Bauern Donuts

FOR 4 PERSONS

INGREDIENTS:

25 g non-dairy butter

250 mL non-dairy milk

300 g flour

1 packet of dry yeast

salt

oil

icing sugar

jam

PREPARATION:

Melt the butter and warm with the milk (do not boil).

Mix in the liquid with the flour, yeast and a pinch of salt and knead until it forms a smooth dough.

Place this in a sealed bowl in a warm water bath.

When the lid has been pushed off, knead the dough again and allow to rest again, this time without the lid.

It can only be worked again once it has risen one more time. Then place the dough on a floured pastry board and shape into fist-sized balls.

Cover these with a dish towel and allow to rest again for around five to ten minutes.

Heat a good amount of oil in a pan.

Press the dough balls flat, pull from the inside towards the outside, thus forming a thick edge, and fry in the oil on both sides until golden brown.

Lift the donuts out carefully, let them dry and then dust with icing sugar and serve with a dollop of jam in the middle.
